After that, we went to the Billie Swamp Safari. This was my favorite thing that we did throughout the whole trip. I love exotic animals and there were so many of them on this Safari. I learned about all different kinds of animals and even some new ones I had never heard of. Getting so close to the animals was such a surreal experience.

"I learned more over the course of this Intersession trip than I thought possible. Not only did I get a first-hand look at Seminole culture, as the course was intended to give, I also piqued my biological interests in the Billie Swamp. I was nervous about this trip at first because it was a new kind of experience for me, but the people I spent the week with did a lot to make me more comfortable. This is the furthest and longest I've been away from home without my parents, so that comfort is much appreciated. I gained more from this trip than just an understanding of Seminole culture and history. It was an invaluable experience that will be useful and memorable for the rest of my life."

Derek Graney

"From the first minute I walked into the classroom I felt welcomed. Ms. Kittredge was excited that I was there and knew exactly what she was going to have me do. She gave me my own desk, chair, whiteboard and marker. She usually had me working with the kids who needed extra help, the ones that didn't come to school on a regular basis, so they were behind. The first day the kids were understandably shy around me, but the second and third day they all wanted to come to my table even if they didn't need help."
