View Academic Programs at Fulton

To provide a gateway for higher education in Oswego County, in January 1994 Cayuga Community College opened an Extension Site in Fulton.

The original facility consisted of two rented classrooms in the basement of the Fulton Education Center. Spring 1994 enrollment totaled 94 students.

Later in 1994, classes and offices moved into the former Holy Family School building on West Third Street. In fall 1994, 185 students were enrolled in 19 courses.

During the summer of 2001, the current facility at 806 West Broadway (Route 3) opened as the Fulton Extension Center. The 50,000 square-foot space housed 11 classrooms; staff and faculty offices, library and academic support areas, a bookstore, and a student lounge. In fall 2001, 66 courses were offered and 687 students were enrolled.

In 2004, to meet the continuing rise in enrollment demand, 5,000 feet of unfinished space within the current site was renovated, adding 4 classrooms and 7 offices. In fall 2004, 97 courses were offered and 1,106 students were enrolled. Currently, the Fulton campus features 14 general classrooms, a video distance-learning classroom and a video conference room, computer laboratories, art room, science suite, bookstore and student lounge. These surround the campus's Learning Commons, housing the Library, Academic Support Center, Disabilities Services Office, and 31 computer workstations.

In 2006, New York State granted the facility Branch Campus status, and the "Fulton campus" designation became official. This status means that full degree programs can be offered at the Fulton campus.

Whether for transfer or career, the Fulton campus has helped thousands of students from Oswego and neighboring counties achieve their goals for higher education. As of the campus’s 15th anniversary in 2008-9, more than 6,500 residents of Oswego County had taken credit courses at the Fulton campus. More than 1,500 Oswego county residents had earned Cayuga Community College degrees.

Students may complete the requirements for these associate’s degrees entirely in Fulton:

  • Computer Information Systems
  • Computer Science
  • Criminal Justice: Corrections
  • Criminal Justice: Police
  • Early Childhood
  • Liberal Arts: Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Liberal Arts: Mathematics and Science
  • Nursing

Certificates can be completed in the following areas:

  • Computer Information Systems
  • Criminal Justice/Police
  • Criminal Justice/Corrections
  • General Business

The first full year of study can be completed in the following degree programs:

  • Studio Art & Design
  • Accounting

The first full year of study toward the following degrees can be completed, except for one course in Auburn:

  • Telecommunications Audio/Radio Production
  • Telecommunications Broadcasting
